Where were you when it became official?

It can be said that everyday we become a part of history. Everyday we witness history. As obvious as that mantra is; many times and on many days we do not see the significance of our events.

Sadly, four years ago and in years previous to that I can’t remember where I was during the election but I doubt I’ll ever forget this one. As many people [talking about Americans here] finished their voting and flipped from news channel to news channel on the last of their analog signals, or hit the TiVo button to record the first ever High Def election coverage checking the settings to make sure they would record long enough to capture the announcement of our next president, I sat at my computer half way around the world listening to NPR live stream and watched ABC live Internet coverage of the victory speech in Chicago.

I couldn’t have imagined I would have ever watched an election campaign so closely, nor would I have guessed I’d be watching it via Internet feeds and web site news while residing in China. That’s how it happened however and that’s why I wanted to write this new post; as a marker to say I am aware of the history that was made, even if my awareness is tunneled or limited. Where were you and how did you feel when America made poignant history on November 4th, 2008? What did you notice?
